I really don't know how we totally missed posting Darlene & RJ's wedding from our 2016 season. But I guess better late than never right?
This post was originally featured on Aisle Perfect titled "Traditional Meets Modern Los Angeles Wedding"
We've re-published the blog's text below:
Today’s beautiful real wedding has some of the most gorgeous details we’ve seen. Let’s just say if this post we’re Pinterest, you’d be pinning every single image 🙂 Darlene and RJ incorporated traditional Filipino elements like using a veil, cord, coins and a money dance into their wedding but really wanted their modern style to shine. Green is Darlene’s favorite color, so she wanted to used different shades of green throughout the wedding. “I loved the idea of having non traditional florals, like air plants and succulents,” said Darlene. “Meg from the Little Branch did an amazing job and even used hops in our arch and other arrangements!” For the escort cards, Darlene’s brother-in-law made a large wooden frame with wires. They asked their guests to take their escort card and replace it with a Polaroid picture of themselves. Such a great idea! Another detail we loved? The flower girls carried balloons down the aisle.
At the reception, the couple hired a singer to entertain the guests as they arrived. She also sang during the ceremony. Their favor table featured one of Christy of Orange Blossom Special Events’ beautiful signs and shelves that they assembled ourselves. “My bridesmaids helped to replant the succulents into mercury candle votives we found,” said Darlene. “Our cake toppers were also clay love birds made by our friend.” During the reception they used Eventstag to display a live feed of Instagram pictures their friends posted with using their hashtag. It seems this beautiful couple missed no detail in planning their special day, and it certainly looks like it was a day to remember 🙂 Take a look at some of their gorgeous wedding photos, beautifully captured by Steven Lam Photography:

We love Lindsey + Jac's beautiful wedding in Laguna Beach. They flew from the east coast and chose Laguna as their destination for their beautiful wedding. Shooting this couple was a pleasure, their love shines through. Moments like this is why we love being a wedding photographer. The light, the organic len's flare (no filters) and the warm smile toward each other in this magical moment pretty much says it all...Love and happiness.
We've made it on The Overwhelmed Bride's The Bride List. We are so honored to be the official wedding photographer of Tanya Stein & Violet Palmer's bling wedding yesterday on August 1st, 2014. The wedding was a star studded event filled with so much love for the lovely couple.
Violet Palmer, who in 1997 became the first female to referee an NBA game, has announced that she is gay and is marrying her longtime partner, reports the Associated Press.
Palmer married celebrity hair stylist Tanya Stine in Los Angeles. The couple has been together for 20 years.
Palmer told the AP that she came out to her fellow NBA referees in 2007, several of whom will attend her wedding.
"This is actually the big formal coming out," Palmer said. "We are saying to the world, to everyone, here's my wife of 20 years. This is the big coming out."
Palmer refereed the 2014 NBA All-Star game in February, becoming the first female in any of the four major U.S. sports to officiate an All-Star game.
She has also refereed for both the NCAA and WNBA.

Clearly this was a special wedding celebration not just for Tanya & Violet but also for the LGBT community and California's newly passed gay wedding law. We are proud to be a witness at such an historical event and movement.
Enjoy Tanya & Violet's wedding ring image. We hope this will help bring more wedding inspiration to your big day.
Cheers!

Kudos from our client Danielle + Derek on Instagram today:
"4 years ago today, Derek and I got married in the backyard of a historic house in Oahu, just feet away from the ocean. We had 22 guests, an acoustic guitarist, and two photographers we liked so much we flew them from LA to be there. It was the most relaxed wedding I have ever been to, and without a doubt, the happiest day of my life. Happy Anniversary, my love :-) (Photo by the incomparable @stevenlamphotography)"
This is the reason why we love photographing weddings. It's not just a job. We love what we do because we know years from now, our wedding couples will have a blast looking back at their beautiful and timeless moments we've help captured on their wedding day.
Happy Anniversary to the sweetest couple Danielle + Derek. Mahalo.
P.S. Danielle is also an amazing embroider. Click here to see her what she did for her wedding album cover.
